Hi everyone! So here is our very first blog! It’s strange to me to think back when I had a spark of an idea for a ladies team back in 2013 because I wanted to throw a ball about myself. Well not just with myself, but with others. You see that’s the thing about this sport, you may start off like me not even knowing it existed, but once it gets you, you’re hooked. There’s just something about it that’s so exhilarating, to watch and to play, you can’t get enough. It’s not like any other sport I have come across. And then there’s the need to get others involved and spread the word. The whole thing becomes like a family and my family quickly grew to around 24 players, coaches and committee, now breaking out in the wide world of sport on our own to create our very own Club – The Cheshire Bears….
Lots of exciting things to come, but we have a strong committee and a drive to succeed that will take us to where we need to go. I have no doubt that the Cheshire Bears will help pave the way in Women’s American Football, we are working hard in the background to make these big plans a reality.
So what’s to come? Keep your eyes peeled for Coaching recruitment and announcements, we are seeking sponsors and applying for grants, we will be recruiting players and finalising venue arrangements.
So spread the word, the Bears are coming…
